VALENTINE'S DAY

Valentine's Day 

Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated annually on February 14. In this day we celebrate love and affection to the people we love. People usually give cards, flowers, and chocolate. We celebrate Valentine's Day because ancient Romans celebrated the feast of Lupercalia, a spring festival, on the 15th of February. With the introduction of Christianity, the holiday moved to the 14th of February, the saint day that celebrated several early Christian martyrs named Valentine.

On Valentine's Day every year, there are at least 36 million heart shaped boxes of chocolates sold. There are also approximately 50 million roses given around the world.

Reflection: This quote is saying that you should hang out with people that have good characteristics, because this way they can have a good influence in your life. For instance, in school you should hang out with people who care about their grades. 

ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON

Orthopedic Surgeon

Duties and Responsibilities:  

For an orthopedic surgeon, each day's duties are determined by the needs of his patients. Orthopedic surgeons diagnose and assess patient's' injuries or diseases through diagnostic testing, such as X-rays to look for broken bones or blood tests to check for rheumatoid arthritis. The surgeon may cast and splint limbs, recommend rehabilitative exercises, or prescribe supplements and medications to strengthen joints or minimize pain.

Salary: $519,000 per year

Education:

In order to become an orthopedic surgeon you must have a bachelor’s degree program, typically in pre-medical studies, biology or a similar field. After receiving an undergraduate degree, they attend an additional four years of medical school taking advanced courses in anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and biochemistry. After medical school, orthopedic surgeons continue their training through five years of residency education. After their residency they must become licensed.

Demand or Need for this profession:

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, or BLS, projects that employment for all physicians and surgeons will 24 percent from 2010 to 2020. As the population continues to grow and age, the demand for orthopedic surgeons will grow as well.

Reflection: I guess I agree because if you know something is wrong you shouldn't do it.

For example, if you're at a party and someone offers you a drink you shouldn't take it because its wrong and you're underage. However i also believe having a drink once in a while won't hurt you. Adults can have a drink at party or a celebration, and I don't find that wrong.

I believe this quote means that if you follow the right path it will lead you to success without having to worry about it. When you do what is right, you will never have to worry about things going bad. I believe this is like reverse karma.

 Oral surgeons operate on the mouth and jaws of their patients and often work in conjunction with other dentists, surgeons and orthodontists. Typical duties of an oral surgeon include consulting with patients, discussing treatment options, treating patients, overseeing aftercare, coordinating with other dentists and physicians, and recording patient care.

Education:

You will need a four year bachelors degree and will need to go to a dental training school as well. Later, you will need to become licensed.

Reflection: I guess I agree with the quote even though I don't really watch football. I believe everyone in life should strive high and always aim for the best. In school, students should strive for good grades.
