Orthopedic Surgeon

Duties and Responsibilities:  

For an orthopedic surgeon, each day's duties are determined by the needs of his patients. Orthopedic surgeons diagnose and assess patient's' injuries or diseases through diagnostic testing, such as X-rays to look for broken bones or blood tests to check for rheumatoid arthritis. The surgeon may cast and splint limbs, recommend rehabilitative exercises, or prescribe supplements and medications to strengthen joints or minimize pain.

Salary: $519,000 per year

Education:

In order to become an orthopedic surgeon you must have a bachelor’s degree program, typically in pre-medical studies, biology or a similar field. After receiving an undergraduate degree, they attend an additional four years of medical school taking advanced courses in anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and biochemistry. After medical school, orthopedic surgeons continue their training through five years of residency education. After their residency they must become licensed.

Demand or Need for this profession:

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, or BLS, projects that employment for all physicians and surgeons will 24 percent from 2010 to 2020. As the population continues to grow and age, the demand for orthopedic surgeons will grow as well.

Reflection: I guess I agree because if you know something is wrong you shouldn't do it.

For example, if you're at a party and someone offers you a drink you shouldn't take it because its wrong and you're underage. However i also believe having a drink once in a while won't hurt you. Adults can have a drink at party or a celebration, and I don't find that wrong.

Orthodontists are dentists who specialize in diagnosing dental abnormalities and realigning teeth. Orthodontists work with patients to improve the functioning of their jaws and teeth, achieve their desired dental appearance and increase overall self-confidence. Orthodontists examine patients, dental records and X-rays to determine alignment and occlusion issues. 

Salary: $221,390 per year

ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEON

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Oral surgeons operate on the mouth and jaws of their patients and often work in conjunction with other dentists, surgeons and orthodontists. Typical duties of an oral surgeon include consulting with patients, discussing treatment options, treating patients, overseeing aftercare, coordinating with other dentists and physicians, and recording patient care. 

Salary: $187,200 per year

Education:

You will need a four year bachelors degree and will need to go to a dental training school as well. Later, you will need to become licensed.

Reflection: I guess I agree with the quote even though I don't really watch football. I believe everyone in life should strive high and always aim for the best. In school, students should strive for good grades. 

OPTOMETRY TECHNICIAN

Optometry Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:

-They work in the offices of optometrists, eye and vision care clinics, and other facilities that provide vision care services. Duties of an optometrist assistant can be both administrative and clinical, although clinical duties may be limited by state licensing requirements. They also help record and test eye function.

Salary: $30,590 per year

Education:

-You will need a high school diploma and 1-2 years of training program available at vocational schools and community colleges.
